Turkey – Where East Meets West

In the recent decades Turkey is becoming more popular then ever as a top tourist place. It is not hard to figure why. Turkey as a Mediterranean country has everything needed for developing summer tourism. Sun and sand is something they can’t run off.

Many people are influenced by the stereotypes, ranking Turkey very low on the top tourist destinations. Truth is totally opposite.

28.6 millions tourist visit Turkey every year. Tourists mostly come from the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Japan, also tourists from Arab countries, Iran, North America, France, Sweden, Norway and Finland are not so rare.

Major European football teams are preparing for their league seasons every year in Antalya, and what is interesting is that Germans and Russians mostly visit Mediterranean Turkey, while UK citizens mainly visit Aegean part of the Turkey and two major resorts Bodrum and Marmaris.

Hotel accommodation is advancing at enormous rate. 5 star hotels are up to 2-3 times cheaper then hotels in French Riviera or South Spain.

You also probably know that Turkey has very rich history. Many kingdoms and armies passed through that land and left behind rich cultural heritage, where among Turkey cities, Istanbul is stepping ahead.

Another thing you probably did not know is that Turkey, even if it lay far on Europe South, has rich winter tourism. Fourteen ski resorts are usually open between December and May.

We will mention ski resort Saklıkent (40 km from Antalya) which can often give you skiing opportunities in late April. This means you can have ski bout and just one hour later bath in warm Mediterranean Sea.
